The research in Team Pöppler focusses on the molecular level characterization of complex, amorphous polymer nanoparticles for drug delivery applications. We characterize materials in the solid state, as (hydro-)gels or in (biorelevant) solutions. For this, we are using NMR spectroscopy combined with synthetic organic and macromolecular chemistry complemented with other characterization tools and small calculations. One key aspect is the improved understanding of such systems, which yields detailed structure-property relations. These are a prerequisite for the second key aspect, the development of design ideas for improved materials.
