Education

2012 – 2017Dr. rer. nat. University of Bayreuth, Physical Chemistry, in the research group of Prof. G. Papastavrou
2011

Graduate degree (Master of Science) in polymer science, University of Bayreuth, Germany

Research Interests

The research interests of Nicolas Helfricht focus on surface and interface characterization by atomic force microscopy (AFM). Various AFM techniques are applied to characterize the surface topography as well as interaction forces such as electrostatics, sterics, adhesion and mechanical properties of colloidal systems. Here, the development of new methods for the preparation of novel colloidal probes (e.g. special interaction geometries, nanoparticles and soft matter) is very important.
